STORY: "Convicted murderer may petition for mercy," published by ABC Online on March 7, 2012.

GIST: "The petition for mercy process being considered by lawyers for convicted murderer Susan Neill-Fraser has been described as a last resort.........The 58-year-old yesterday lost an appeal against her conviction for murdering Bob Chappell and dumping his body in Hobart's River Derwent three years ago. The Hobart woman's family is now considering making a petition for mercy to the Attorney-General, which could result in a pardon. The Australian Lawyers Alliance president, Greg Barns, says a petition for mercy requires compelling new evidence."
