STORY:  "Defence lawyer says "scheming" patient hoped to win $4.5-million lawsuit: Levun sex trial," by reporter Daryl Slade, published by the Calgary Herald on January 21, 2013.

GIST: "The lawyer for former forensic psychiatrist Dr. Aubrey Levin repeatedly attacked the key complainant in his final argument to the jury of his client’s sexual assault trial on Monday. Chris Archer called RB a thief and a liar who used a ruse to get Levin to touch his genitals during sessions in March 2010, in order to extort the doctor. “Motive is very important is assessing someone’s credibility,” Archer said. “Mr. (RB) has 4.5 million reasons to lie to you.” Archer was alluding to the $4.5-million lawsuit RB filed after Levin was charged with sexual assault. RB took videos of Levin fondling him on March 3 and March 16, 2010, with a spy watch. The latter video showed the alleged assault continuing for nearly 15 minutes. Levin, 73, is on trial for allegedly sexually assaulting RB and eight other men, most of them on court-ordered assessments between 1999 and 2010. However, Archer told the jury RB “is not a victim, but a perpetrator.” “To say he was unduly influenced by Dr. Levin at any time is absolutely not true,” said Archer. “This is not a person who could be manipulated or sexually assaulted at any time. “He comes across as a scheming, manipulating, greedy, dishonest person."........Archer’s argument continues through the day. Crown prosecutor Bill Wister is scheduled to make his final submission to the jury on Tuesday. Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Donna Shelley will give her final instructions on the la to the jury on Friday."
