STORY: "Charles Boney testifies that he listened outside as David Camm murdered family,"  by reporter Grace Schneider, published by the Courier-Journal on September 9, 2013.

GIST: "Charles Boney testified Monday that he was standing outside David Camm’s Georgetown garage when the former state trooper murdered his family.  Boney — who is serving a 225-year prison sentence in the September 2000 murders — said that he had arrived at the family’s home to sell Camm a gun when Kim Camm arrived with the couple’s children. He said he was standing outside, next to David Camm, when she pulled in driving the family’s Ford Bronco. He said Kim Camm got out of the Bronco and walked around to its rear and that David Camm went into the garage. “I was just led to believe this was maybe just him going to get money” for the gun, Boney testified. But he said he heard arguing and somebody yell “no” before hearing a pop. He testified that he also heard somebody yell “Daddy” before there was another pop. He said that Camm came out of the garage and then pointed the gun at him and tried to fire, but the gun didn’t go off. “Once I seen that he was unsuccesful,” Boney testified, he chased Camm back into the garage, but tripped over something, scraping his knee. He said that he tripped over some shoes — probably Kim Camm’s — and may have put them on top of the vehicle, where they were later found. He said that Camm fled to the steps to the house. “I remember him saying, ‘You did this’ ” as he stood on the steps, Boney said. He said that Camm then went into the house, while he stayed in the garage and looked around, seeing Kim Camm on the garage floor and leaning into the Bronco, where the children had been shot. But Boney testified that it came to him that Camm may be looking for a gun or ammunition, so he decided to flee. “I left. I ran. I got into my vehicle. I took off as quickly as possible,” Boney testified. “All in all, I couldn’t have been there more than four minutes,” he said.   After the jury was asked to leave the courtroom Monday, Camm stood and stared straight at Boney, moving his mouth angrily. Boney stared back from the witness stand."
