Ken Anderson: Professional misconduct trial relating to his prosecution of Michael Morton's 1987 murder trial to begin on September 30, 2013. Could last up to one week. Statesman says speculation has been "rampant" that Judge Anderson would attempt to make "some sort of deal" and resign from office in a bid to make the criminal and civil charges go away!

STORY: "Former District Attorney Anderson due back in court Sept. 30," by reporter Brad Stutzman, published by the Statesman on September 12, 2013.

GIST: "As some predicted, last week Judge Kelly Moore threw out summary judgment motions submitted by both sides. That cleared the way for a Sept. 30 civil trial, which could last up to one week and will – if all goes according to schedule – end with Moore ruling whether Anderson engaged in professional misconduct during his prosecution of Morton’s 1987 murder trial. Anderson served in the Williamson County District Attorney’s office – as an assistant prosecutor and elected official – for 22 years. Since 2002 he has been judge for the county’s 277th District Court. Speculation has been rampant that Anderson would attempt to enter some sort of deal, resigning from office in order to make both the criminal charges against him and the State Bar’s civil case go away. Fueling that speculation was the Texas State Legislature’s decision, earlier this year, to raise salaries for district court judges statewide."
