"A national television network is airing an hour-long episode focusing on the Angie Dodge murder case and the conviction of Chris Tapp. ‘The DNA of a Killer: Who Killed Angie Dodge?’ is the title of the 48 Hours show that will air on CBS this Saturday, Apr. 15, at 10:00 PM; “Police have DNA evidence in a brutal murder, but can’t match a killer — so how did a public DNA database lead police to suspect a filmmaker of murder?” an explanation for the episode reads on the show’s website. Dodge was raped and stabbed to death in her apartment on I Street in June 1996. Tapp was charged and convicted of murder but maintained his innocence. Last month, after serving 20 years in prison, he was released from custody in a case that garnered worldwide media attention. CBS posted a 48 Hours preview video Thursday that shows interviews with Carol Dodge, Angie’s mother, Idaho Falls Police Chief Mark McBride, Idaho Falls Police Det. Pat McKenna and a man named Michael Usry.
Usry, a filmmaker working in Louisiana, says he became a suspect in Dodge’s murder after a DNA sample was traced to him. The show is expected to take an in-depth look at the controversial case that has put east Idaho in the national spotlight."
