Rodney lincoln: Missouri: Bulletin: (Hair matching case); Missouri Supreme Court won't review his case: STL Today; Staff; June 2, 2017..."Lincoln has maintained his innocence. Evidence against him included a hair that city prosecutors said matched Lincoln's DNA but was later proven to not be Lincoln's. "The literal holding of the court is that innocence is not a good enough reason to release a prisoner," Sean O'Brien, founder of the Midwest Innocence Project and professor at the law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, said in a press release. "That cannot be the law in a just society."

"The Missouri Supreme Court on Wednesday denied a request from Rodney Lincoln to review his case. Lincoln is serving two life sentences for the 1982 murder in St. Louis of JoAnn Tate and the assault of her two young daughters To gain release, Lincoln now must be granted parole or clemency. Lincoln has maintained his innocence. Evidence against him included a hair that city prosecutors said matched Lincoln's DNA but was later proven to not be Lincoln's. In addition, one of the women has recanted her childhood identification of Lincoln and is fighting to have him released. "The literal holding of the court is that innocence is not a good enough reason to release a prisoner," Sean O'Brien, founder of the Midwest Innocence Project and professor at the law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, said in a press release. "That cannot be the law in a just society."
