Gene Morrison. UK; White Elephant case: This 'expert' totally fabricated credentials to pose as a forensic doctor - and used his status to sexually abuse children... "When Morrison was finally convicted for his crimes in 2009 aged 51, he was already two years into a five-year sentence for fraud. He had posed as a forensic doctor in an elaborate scam, conning his way into hundreds of courtroom trials despite no qualifications"... "Now he is seeking release on parole - and one of his abuse victims has waived anonymity to tell her story of sexual abuse...The Manchester Evening News story is headed, "Victim of Gene Morrison 'scared of what will happen' if he is released from prison."

In the years since I started publishing this Blog I have become increasingly disturbed by the 'white elephant' in the room: Sheer, unadulterated, willful   misconduct in the criminal justice system - much  of it involving forensic evidence - committed by lab technicians,  pathologists, police officers, prosecutors and others.  Think Annie Dookhan; Think Sonia Farak; Think David Kofoed; Think Charles Smith; Think Ken Anderson; Think Gene Morrison.  I have therefore decided to run this image of a white elephant at the top of every applicable post henceforth, to draw our reader's attention to   what I see as a major problem in all too many criminal justice system's - my own included.  Harold Levy; Publisher: The Charles Smith Blog;
"Reformers have for years recommended that all forensic labs be independent from law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies' and this is a key reform promoted by The Justice Project (2008). But fixing these problems is only half the answer' because half of the wrongful convictions attributed to misleading forensic evidence involved deliberate forensic fraud' evidence tampering' and/or perjury.

GIST: A victim of sexual predator Gene Morrison has told how he abused her when she was just seven years old - after gaining her family’s trust by pretending to be a doctor and taking her to church. Holly Fitton, 22, who spent eight years in the care system following her ordeal, has bravely waived her anonymity to tell her story of abuse. She contacted the M.E.N after reading the story of Natasha Nield, 21, who was raped by Morrison in Hyde , when she was a schoolgirl - and fears the consequences if he is released on parole. Holly, who now lives in a different area of Greater Manchester said: “I don’t want him to come out of prison either - I’m scared of what will happen. “He ruined my life, I was happy living with my mum until it happened.........When Morrison was finally convicted for his crimes in 2009 aged 51, he was already two years into a five-year sentence for fraud. He had posed as a forensic doctor in an elaborate scam, conning his way into hundreds of courtroom trials despite no qualifications. A judge then ordered he serve an ‘indeterminate’ sentence with a minimum of seven and a half years for the rapes and sex assaults.

He would act like a ‘father figure’ to vulnerable young girls. He would offer them support, ply them with presents. But as Natasha discovered, it was just an act.  She said: “I had anger problems as a child. It meant I was often left on my own - nobody wanted to be around me. “He first approached me when I was nine. He would talk to me for hours. Initially he was always really nice to me. He gave me money and sweets and took me on shopping trips. We got really close. I trusted him and felt safe. “A few months after knowing Rocky he began to touch me inappropriately. “He told me to keep it a secret but that it was normal. When a school bully ripped Natasha’s bag, Morrison bought her a new one. And then raped her. She added: “I was scared and in a lot of pain. I have never felt pain like it. He called me pathetic and weak.” Natasha says the abuse went on for many more months - and that during his fraud trial he raped her every evening after court, right up to the day he was jailed."
