JAMES CARPENTER: FORMER HOUSTON POLICE CRIME LAB TECHNICIAN CONVICTED OF TAMPERING WITH EVIDENCE AND FELONY THEFT, KHOU.COM REPORTS;

"HOUSTON—A former Houston Police Crime Lab technician was convicted of tampering with evidence and felony theft Wednesday morning," khou.com reported on July 7, 2010, under the heading, "Ex-HPD crime lab tech convicted of evidence tampering, felony theft." (Wikipedia informs us that, "KHOU is Greater Houston's CBS affiliate television station owned by the Belo Corporation and broadcasting on television channel 11.")

"James Carpenter has yet to be sentenced, but he could face up to 20 years in prison." the story continues.

"Authorities say Carpenter was stealing evidence from the lab, including cocaine, heroin and Xanax.

His actions forced police to retest evidence in more than 200 cases."
