Bulletin: Ed Graf; Prosecutor wants more time to study new scientific reports relating to 1986 fire - as Graf seeks release from prison;

STORY: "McLellan County DA wants hearing on new questions in Ed Graf arson murder case," by reporter Cindy V. Culp, published by the Waco Tribune-Herald on September 1, 2012.

GIST: "McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna is recommending a hearing be held to resolve newly raised questions about a 1986 fire that killed two Hewitt boys and resulted in their stepfather, Ed Graf, being convicted of arson murder. In a filing this week with Waco’s 54th State District Court, Reyna makes it clear his office has not reached any conclusions about whether new scientific reports regarding the fire have merit. But he said his office wants to further investigate and asked the court for more time to gather information about the case.........Reaves said he has already talked with Reyna’s office about providing the requested information. He said he is pleased by Reyna’s response. “I think it’s more than reasonable for (the district attorney’s office) to follow up with the experts and satisfy themselves about (the experts’) positions and opinions,” Reaves said."
