Bulletin: Jeramie Davis; Spokane, Washington; He was released from prison after serving 6 years of a 40-year sentence for a crime he did not commit; DNA testing ultimately led to the real killer. Innocence Project Northwest case; KREM.

STORY: "Man released from jail after wrongly convicted for 2007 Spokane murder," published by KREM  on April 12, 2013.

GIST: "Jeramie Davis served six years of a 40-year sentence for a crime he didn't commit. Davis was found guilty by a jury in 2008 for murdering the owner of an adult book store in 2007. Davis admitted he robbed the store but did not kill the owner. Officials said in 2011 DNA evidence from the murder weapon found in the victim's stolen car did not match Davis'. The DNA matched Julio Davila. The Spokane County Prosecutor then charged Davila in the shop owner's murder and was later convicted. The Innocence Project Northwest reviewed Davis' case and he got a new trial in July of 2012. IPNW said a settlement was reached and Davis' murder charge was dismissed. He entered a plea to the robbery charge and the judge ordered him to be released.
