 "DNA helps solve crimes on TV all the time, but in Albuquerque it helped put an innocent man behind bars. Jeremy Gatzke said his life will never be the same. “I lost everything in this situation,” Gatzke said.  Two and a half years ago Albuquerque police knocked on his door and told him he was under arrest for sexual assault. They said his DNA matched the DNA found inside the victim. Gatzke couldn’t believe it because he said he didn’t do it. “They proceeded to tell me I was being charged with some pretty heinous crimes, and taking me away,” he said. Separated from his family for more than a year, Gatzke tried to prove his innocence from inside a tiny cell by taking lie detector tests and hiring an attorney. His attorney was able to figure out that the DNA match was only a partial one, meaning that Gatzke was one of thousands of people who could have been wrongly linked to the crime. “I wouldn't wish what I had to go through on my worst enemy,” he said."
