Bulletin: Joseph Patterson: South Dakota; Defence rests in Patterson trial; "Dr. Tawansy, an opthamalogist and founder of Children's Retina Institute in southern California, told the jury about his experience in treating eye diseases. His expertise includes managing problems caused by trauma and bleeding in the eye. Dr. Tawansy said he reviewed Tyrese Ruffin's medical records and images, and he doesn't believe Ty's retinal hemorrhaging is specific to shaking or trauma. He believes Ty's symptoms are consistent with choking or being given CPR, which is what the defense team claims happened at Patterson's home. For about hour, the prosecution cross-examined the doctor, challenging the witness that retinal bleeding could come from shaking or trauma." KFSY;
