TOMMY ZEIGLER; INVESTIGATOR PLANS TO RELEASE NEWLY DISCOVERED EVIDENCE SHE SAYS POINTS TO HIS INNOCENCE ON MONDAY APRIL 11;

"Now a St. Petersburg investigator has uncovered evidence that she says will point the finger at the real perpetrator of the heinous crimes.

I have discovered information involving a former member of law enforcement who was deeply involved in the investigation and conviction of Mr. Zeigler,” said Lynn-Marie Carty of Reunite People. “ This former police chief was later arrested in Costa Rica on charges of conspiracy to murder, a plot to murder a U.S. ambassador, blow up an embassy and of gun-running and drug-running. He also threatened a witness in a court room prior to his trial, saying,’ We’re going to kill you for what you just said.’ He was held in jail, but while on bail, he fled the country before facing his own trial. This is the same man who provided much of the information, that we now know to be false, that was used against Mr. Zeigler during his trial and ultimate conviction.”

BACKGROUND: (Information from the Orlando Sentinel); Thomas Zeigler, was convicted of killing three family members and a customer inside his Winter Garden furniture store on Christmas Eve 1975. Zeigler and his attorneys want a new round of DNA testing conducted on blood-stained evidence from the crime scene. They maintain the evidence will point to Zeigler's innocence, something Zeigler has argued all these years. However, Zeigler's New York-based attorneys John Houston Pope and Dennis Tracey III say a defense witness used to review the blood evidence several years back is no longer able or willing to work on the case. They want a new expert to work on the case and they want the state to pay for that expert. Testing on the evidence, Tracey said today, "we believe can show Mr. Zeigler's innocence." The new expert, Timothy Palmbach, works with blood spatter evidence an does forensic analysis work. His case involves one of Central Florida's most notorious and bizarre crimes. The killings of his wife, in-laws and store customer Charlie Mays took place in the family furniture store in Winter Garden. Only Zeigler was found alive, shot in the abdomen; investigators said it was self-inflicted. From the start, Zeigler claimed a group of men attacked him and his family in the store. He says he engaged in some fighting and a struggle during the attack. Several years ago, Zeigler's legal team and Ashton argued about DNA findings that showed some blood evidence on Zeigler's shirt was linked to the wrong victim.

"My guess is that despite the detective Lynn-Marie Carty’s celebrity, this press release is gonna get buried," Susan Chandler's Wobbly Warrier post published on April 8, 2011 begins, under the heading, "Will Carty’s new evidence free William “Tommy” Zeigler?"

"It isn’t a good sign that it isn’t showing up on Google, but it is a familiar sign," the post continues.

"* * PRESS CONFERENCE * *

BREAKING NEWS: Newly discovered evidence should free death row inmate Tommy Zeigler at last, says an internationally famous investigator. The evidence will be announced at a press conference at 9AM Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Orange County Courthouse, 425 N. Orange Ave., Orlando, Fl. on the courthouse steps following an 8AM hearing on the case in courtroom 10D before Judge Reginald Whitehead.

For 35 years Florida death row inmate William Thomas Zeigler has claimed his innocence in the quadruple murder of his family and a customer of his Winter Garden furniture store, where he too was shot. Long-time supporters hoped new witnesses, newly discovered evidence and DNA testing would free the man they believe was framed for the 1975 crime. But without a credible alternative scenario of the crime, Florida courts have upheld Zeigler’s conviction.

Now a St. Petersburg investigator has uncovered evidence that she says will point the finger at the real perpetrator of the heinous crimes.

“ I have discovered information involving a former member of law enforcement who was deeply involved in the investigation and conviction of Mr.

Carty, who has been featured in newspapers and magazines, worldwide, as well as appearing and assisting in the production of television shows with John Walsh, Dr. Phil, Tyra Banks, E! THS Investigates, Life Moments and shows produced by Barbara Walters, is the founder of her private investigation agency, Reunite People and Agent Angel PI.

Now Carty’s focus is the Zeigler case. Convinced of his innocence, she is attacking it with the same passion she has brought to her previous cases. But she is quick to give credit to the work done by the supporters for the past 35 years.

“ Over the last several months, I have been building on a strong foundation laid by the supporters who have worked tirelessly on the case over the years,” Carty said. “ Their work has led to television productions of Unsolved Mysteries, CBS’ A Matter of Life and Death, Investigative Reports and websites www.freetommyz.com, www.prayersfortommy.com and www.tommyzeiglerisinnocent.com that have publicized new evidence. A book, FATAL FLAW, by Phil Finch, gives a wonderful investigative look at the case. What I’ve discovered will now bring that all together and finally tell the whole story of what went on that Christmas Eve.”

Carty said Zeigler’s supporters include Bianca Jagger, who reviewed and wrote about the case in the Miami Herald in 2004, and journalists and television producers who became believers in Zeigler’s innocence. Supporters will be with Carty at the press conference, including the daughter of the former police chief.
