The Associated Press reported earlier today that Saami Shaibani will not be charged with perjury in connection with his testimony for the prosecution at Douglas Plude's murder trial;

"MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A prosecutor in Wisconsin has decided not to charge an expert witness who misrepresented his credentials during the trial of a man accused of drowning his wife in a toilet, the A.P. story under the heading "No perjury charge for witness in perjury case," begins.

"Assistant Attorney General Paul Barnett said in a letter released Wednesday that he cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Saami Shaibani committed perjury at the 2002 trial of Douglas Plude," the story continues;

"Prosecutors called Shaibani to bolster their case that Plude drowned his wife in the toilet at their home in 1999. Plude maintained she committed suicide.

Shaibani falsely told jurors that he was a clinical associate professor at Temple University. The Wisconsin Supreme Court concluded last year that he lied and it overturned Plude's conviction.

Plude's second trial is expected to begin in October.
