Doctor Charles Smith was not below putting a spin on things - right to the very end.

The spin, circulated to "News Editors" on Oct. 1, 2008, was headed, "Press Release of Dr. Charles Smith."

"Dr. Smith participated in good faith with the Inquiry into Pediatric Forensic Pathology in Ontario," the release, issued shortly after release of the Goudge Report, began.

"The Inquiry identified many systemic issues that require attention and he remains optimistic that the Report released by the Honourable Mr. Justice Goudge today will have a positive impact on the practice of pediatric forensic pathology in Ontario," it continues;

"He intends to carefully consider the Commissioner's lengthy report including his
findings and recommendations. He does not currently have any comments.

The release ends with the words "For further information" ,,,followed by no phone numbers;

Just like Dr. Smith: To sit back and ruminate on how the field of forensic pediatric pathology can be improved.
