Sue Neill-Fraser: Tasmania: (Australia): Rally to be held tomorrow, August 20, 2022, to convey the message that current legal procedures have failed her - and that a Commission of Inquiry is needed now. As legal scholar Dr. Bob Moles has noted: "The most important point in this case is that much of the evidence given at trial was faulty - the forensic evidence (preliminary screening test) was inadmissible, the prosecutor made submissions for which their was no evidence. Once he introduced an 'impermissible line of reasoning' to the jury that was a fatal error. If there is one such error which might reasonably have influenced the jury in arriving at their verdict, then the conviction 'must' be set aside. The High Court principles make that very clear."

PUBLISHER'S NOTE: After following this case for years, I remain bewildered by the fact that Sue Neill- Fraser has been in prison 13 years  in spite of forensic evidence which so clearly vindicates her, thanks to the unconscionable efforts of the Tasmanian government  to portray the evidence as 'circumstantial' -  and  to  confuse and deceive the public. I therefore add my voice from Canada, to the many others from different parts of the world who  will calling for an independent inquiry, and protesting the injustice of it all. I invite my readers to  make their own protest through the petition at the link below.

FINAL WORD:  (Applicable to all of our wrongful conviction cases):  "Whenever there is a wrongful conviction, it exposes errors in our criminal legal system, and we hope that this case — and lessons from it — can prevent future injustices."
Lawyer Radha Natarajan:
Executive Director: New England Innocence Project;

FINAL, FINAL WORD: "Since its inception, the Innocence Project has pushed the criminal legal system to confront and correct the laws and policies that cause and contribute to wrongful convictions.   They never shied away from the hard cases — the ones involving eyewitness identifications, confessions, and bite marks. Instead, in the course of presenting scientific evidence of innocence, they've exposed the unreliability of evidence that was, for centuries, deemed untouchable." So true!
