GIST: "The Mississipppi Supreme Court has dismissed a motion to vacate the sentence handed down in a Lowndes County capital murder case. Eddie Lee Howard, Jr., 61, was sentenced to death in the 1992 rape and stabbing death of Georgia Kemp, 82, at her Columbus home. Howard's attorney's have filed a motion last September to have the conviction and sentence thrown out because of questions over testimony by a forensic expert on bite marks.........In January, Howard filed a motion from prison to have the conviction vacated claiming his attorney did not provide him a copy of the petition filed in September.........In a ruling Thursday, the court dismissed Howard's motion but said it would continue to consider the motion filed by his attorney in September."
