Roman Zadorov: Israel: Ongoing retrial: Significant Development: The defence has called for testing of hairs found at the murder scene but not yet tested - in bid to establish his innocence..."To date, 27 of the hairs found at the murder scene have been examined, some of which were tested in the United States, and all of them were found to match Rada's - except for three hairs. On the other hand, none of these hairs matched Zadorov's DNA, Israel Today reports."

BACKGROUND: "Zadorov, convicted in 2010 and again in 2014 of murdering the 14-year-old girl at the Nofei Golan Middle School in Katzrin, has been the subject of great controversy and speculation, as doubts have been raised regarding his guilt.  Even Rada's mother, Ilana, has publicly stated that she believes Zadorov was wrongly convicted. Former Supreme Court deputy chief justice Hanan Melcer announced in May that he has approved the request for a retrial for Zadorov."

PUBLISHER'S NOTE: "WORDS TO HEED: FROM OUR POST ON KEVIN COOPER'S  APPLICATION FOR POST-CONVICTION DNA TESTING; CALIFORNIA: (Applicable wherever a state resists DNA testing): "Blogger/extraordinaire Jeff Gamso's blunt, unequivocal, unforgettable message to the powers that be in California: "JUST TEST THE FUCKING DNA." (Oh yes, Gamso raises, as he does in many of his posts, an important philosophical question: This post is headed: "What is truth, said jesting Pilate."...Says Gamso: "So what's the harm? What, exactly, are they scared of? Don't we want the truth?"

PASSAGE OF THE DAY: "The DNA test for these hairs was requested by Adv. Halevi to compare them with the hairs of Ola Kravchenko, who was questioned on suspicion of involvement in the murder but the case against her was eventually closed, and that of her ex-partner, Adir Habani. To date, 27 of the hairs found at the murder scene have been examined, some of which were tested in the United States, and all of them were found to match Rada's - except for three hairs. On the other hand, none of her hairs matched Zadorov's DNA."

STORY: "Dramatic version battle: Will there be another DNA test in the Tair Rada affair," published by Israel Today on November 4, 2021.

SUMMARY: "The prosecution approved a DNA test on 58 hairs found at the murder scene and have not yet been tested • The purpose: to compare DNA with the hairs of Kravchenko and her then partner • The test was requested by Zadorov's defense attorney - although he does not have the resources to fund it • Will the test results help To solve the murder mystery?

-------------------------------------------------

GIST: "An explosive development in the issue of the murder of the late girl Tair Rada, which could undermine the prosecution's line of action against Roman Zadorov:

The approval for the examination was given following the request of Adv. Yarom Halevi, the defendant's defense attorney, but it is doubtful whether such an examination will be carried out because Zadorov does not have the resources to finance it.

These are 58 hairs that were found at the murder scene and have not yet been examined.

The DNA test for these hairs was requested by Adv.

On the other hand, none of her hairs matched Zadorov's DNA.

FINAL WORD:  (Applicable to all of our wrongful conviction cases):  "Whenever there is a wrongful conviction, it exposes errors in our criminal legal system, and we hope that this case — and lessons from it — can prevent future injustices."
Lawyer Radha Natarajan:
Executive Director: New England Innocence Project;

FINAL, FINAL WORD: "Since its inception, the Innocence Project has pushed the criminal legal system to confront and correct the laws and policies that cause and contribute to wrongful convictions.   They never shied away from the hard cases — the ones involving eyewitness identifications, confessions, and bite marks. Instead, in the course of presenting scientific evidence of innocence, they've exposed the unreliability of evidence that was, for centuries, deemed untouchable." So true!

FINAL, FINAL, FINAL WORD: "It is incredibly easy to convict an innocent person, but it's exceedingly difficult to undo such a devastating injustice.
