New post following seasonal break: Bulletin: Court orders Judge Ken Anderson's professional misconduct trial to proceed. Michael Morton's former prosecutor is alleged to have improperly hidden evidence from Morton in the late 1980's. Trial to proceed Sept. 30. The American-Statesman.

STORY: "Trial against Anderson to proceed, judge says," by reporter Chuck Lindell, published by the American-Statesman on September 4, 2013.

GIST: "A lawsuit accusing former Williamson County prosecutor Ken Anderson of professional misconduct is back on course toward a Sept. 30 trial. The State Bar of Texas, which filed the lawsuit accusing Anderson of improperly hiding evidence from Michael Morton in the late 1980s, had sought to cancel the trial, arguing that Anderson’s misconduct had already been established in a separate court proceeding. Avoiding a trial would allow the bar to proceed to a hearing to determine if Anderson, now a state district judge in Georgetown, should be disbarred, have his law license temporarily suspended or be given a public reprimand. Lawyers for Anderson had asked state District Judge Kelly Moore to throw out the bar’s lawsuit, arguing that it was filed well beyond the four-year statute of limitations for events that took place more than two decades ago. Moore informed both sides Wednesday that he had denied the motions for summary judgment, a spokeswoman for the bar said. ........ DNA evidence cleared Morton in 2011 after he had served almost 25 years in prison for the murder of his wife, Christine, in their Williamson County home."
