Hannah Overton: Corpus Christie, Texas: Appeal on conviction for intentionally killing 4-year-old with spice-filled drink; (sodium chloride); Kiii;

STORY: "Former Nueces County prosecutor takes the stand in Overton hearing," published by Kiiii News on April 25, 2012;

GIST: "At the Nueces County Courthouse, a special evidentiary hearing continued Wednesday for Hannah Overton. Overton is trying to get her 2007 capital murder conviction overturned. Wednesday morning, former Nueces County prosecutor, Sandra Eastwood took the stand. The Corpus Christi mother has been in prison since 2007. That after jurors decided Overton intentionally used a spice-filled drink to kill her 4-year old foster child, Andrew Burd. Overton is serving a life sentence for that crime.........On Tuesday, one of Overton's attorneys laid out their case. They say five years ago, when Overton was convicted of killing her 4-year old foster son, Andrew Burd, key evidence was withheld from the defense. Burd died in 2006 of elevated sodium levels. One of the key witnesses called Tuesday was Chris Pinedo, one Overton's trial lawyers, who says his defense was hampered by the lack of evidence given to him."
