- Julius Jones was scheduled to be executed on November 18 on Monday:
- This comes a week after the Oklahoma parole board recommended that his death sentence be commuted to life with the possibility of parole
- Kim Kardashian West and other celebrities have been advocating for Jones bringing his case into the spotlight
- Jones was convicted of murder at 19 and scheduled for execution in the coming months, even though another man has confessed to the crime
- He and his family have maintained his innocence over the last 20, arguing he was framed in a racially-charged case
- His freedom now depends on Gov, Kevin Stitt, who will review the case
PUBLISHER'S NOTE: I am monitoring this case/issue. Keep your eye on the Charles Smith Blog for reports on developments. The Toronto Star, my previous employer for more than twenty incredible years, has put considerable effort into exposing the harm caused by Dr. Charles Smith and his protectors - and into pushing for reform of Ontario's forensic pediatric pathology system. The Star has a "topic" section which focuses on recent stories related to Dr. Charles Smith. It can be found at: http://www.thestar.com/topic/charlessmith.
