Bulletin: Colin Matchim; Newfoundland. "Shaken baby syndrome" case. Convicted. Not yet sentenced. New medical evidence to be heard October 1.

STORY: "Hearing date set for possible re-opening of case," published by VOCM on June 13, 2012.

GIST: "The Colin Matchim trial may be re-opened. Yesterday, a hearing date was set for the beginning of October for evidence to be heard. Matchim allegedly shook his infant daughter in 2009, causing life-altering injures. He was convicted of aggravated assault last year, but the defense has applied to have new medical evidence entered that may change the outcome of the case. That evidence will be heard for two weeks in Supreme Court beginning on October 1. A judge will then decide whether or not the case will be re-opened. "
