Kristine Bunch: Indiana. Bulletin. Arson. Appeal court decision ordering new trial because of outdated, weak evidence allowed to stand. AP.

BACKGROUND: See release issued today by Schiff Hardin and the Northwestern Center on Wrongful Convictions for helpful background on Kristine Bunch's release after 16 years behind bars.

STORY: "New murder-arson trial stands for SR Indiana woman," published by the Associated Press on August 8, 2012.

GIST: "The Indiana Supreme Court won't hear the state's appeal of new trial granted to a southeastern Indiana woman charged with murder and arson in the 1995 death of her 3-year-old son. The court declined to hear the case Wednesday, letting stand a March Indiana Court of Appeals ruling granting the new trial for Kristine Bunch of Greensburg because the evidence used to convict her was outdated, weak and wrongly withheld from the defense."
