GIST: “A
Plea for Justice: Why Texas Will Be Executing an Innocent Man” is an
ongoing, multi-part documentary series that examines the facts and
evidence in the capital murder case against Rodney Reed for which he
currently faces an execution date of November 20th (2019) in the state
of Texas. The series is intended to highlight the evidence that
illustrates that Reed is actually innocent of the crime in hopes that
this pending, wrongful execution can be avoided. Part 1 “Time of Death," describes the relevance of the forensic
medical evidence in this case that has surfaced since the original trial
which now exonerates Rodney Reed. In this section, we hear how vital
the misleading testimony of the original medical examiner Roberto
Bayardo was in attaining the original conviction. Based on the review of
the evidence by world renowned specialists, like Dr. Michael Baden, we
also hear startling new evidence concerning the movement of the victim
hours after death, a key development that clearly implicates another
suspect - the victim’s live-in boyfriend, and local police officer Jimmy
Fennell.
