"The police Major Crime Investigation Branch is not
investigating anyone else over the drowning death of Adelaide woman
Anna-Jane Cheney, police have told the ABC. The Director of Public
Prosecutions (DPP) Adam Kimber announced on Friday that charges against
Henry Keogh were being dropped due to the unavailability of a key
witness to give evidence for a retrial. Mr Keogh was convicted in
1995 of his fiancee's murder in Adelaide's eastern suburbs and spent 21
years in jail until his release in December. Changes to
legislation allowed Mr Keogh to re-argue his case, resulting in a
landmark legal decision to overturn his conviction and hold a fresh
trial.........The
DPP said in a statement he reviewed the case after witness Dr Colin
Mannock fell ill and believed "it was not appropriate to proceed without
the witness giving evidence and being cross-examined".
