Bianca Hudson,
40, broke down in tears at Downing Centre Local Court yesterday while
recounting how Ryan allegedly grabbed her by the throat and threw her on
to a bed at a Newcastle hotel in September 2015. The court heard the pair met while working together at a NSW Police Transport Command in 2012. They started an on-again off-again relationship from mid-2013 after previously being married to other people. Ms
Hudson, an unsworn civilian officer with the police, described Ryan as
like a “raging bull” when he came back to the hotel where she was
sleeping. “He just was so angry, he stormed straight towards me on
the bed and I sat up and he picked me up by my neck with his hand and
held me up in the air,” she said.........Ryan,
who is currently suspended with pay by NSW Police and denies the
allegations, was widely praised for bringing serial killer Folbigg to
justice when she was convicted in 2003. She was sentenced to 40
years jail for killing her four children, Caleb, Patrick, Sarah and
Laura, between 1991 and 1999. Each baby was found by Folbigg not
breathing and the first three deaths were deemed to be of natural
causes. Ryan, then a detective sergeant, began investigating when Laura, the fourth baby, died. He became convinced Folbigg had murdered her children after reading her diary entries."
The hearing is expected to run for five days.
