Bulletin: Aisling Brady McCarthy: Irish nanny trial date set for October 13; Review of various medical reports submitted by the defence (being currently carried out by the Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner’s office) to be completed by June 5.

The trial of Aisling Brady McCarthy, the Irish nanny accused of murdering a baby in the US, will take place in October, it has emerged. The 35-year-old from Cavan is on bail following her release from jail earlier this month, where she had been held for more than two years since her arrest following the death of one-year-old Rehma Sabir. But she appeared in Middlesex Superior Court, Massachusetts, on Tuesday. A review of various medical reports submitted by the defence is being currently carried out by the Massachusetts Chief Medical Examiner’s office. That review will be completed by June 5 and a further hearing has been pencilled in for June 9. Ms Brady McCarthy, 35, from Lavey, Co. Cavan, is accused of first-degree murder, that she so violently shook Rehma it caused brain trauma.........Ms Brady McCarthy’s defence has questioned the conclusions of the prosecution medical experts and also claim evidence of previous injuries to the child as well as a history of malnutrition. The nanny, who was living illegally in the US, arrived in America more than a decade ago. The trial will begin on October 13.
