Bulletin:Jose Ramos: New York; State Superior Court has upheld the conviction and lengthy prison sentence for Jose Antonio Ramos, a former inmate at a state prison near Dallas who was once considered a suspect in the disappearance of a New York City boy in 1979. Pedro Hernandez was eventually charged with murder. A jury in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan has been deliberating the Hernandez case for 16 days.

The state Superior Court has upheld the conviction and lengthy prison sentence for Jose Antonio Ramos, a former inmate at a state prison near Dallas who was once considered a suspect in the disappearance of a New York City boy in 1979......Ramos served a 27-year sentence for molesting children in Erie County, Pa, according to the state Department of Corrections.........Ramos had long been a suspect in the May 25, 1979 disappearance of Etan Patz, 6, who went missing after leaving his Manhattan residence to go to a school bus stop. Patz became the first child to appear on milk cartons as part of a nationwide program designed to locate missing children. Investigators had focused on Ramos, in part because he had been dating the boy’s babysitter. Pedro Hernandez, 51, of New Jersey, was eventually charged in May 2012 with Patz’s disappearance. A jury in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan has been deliberating the Hernandez case for 16 days."
